Landing on the island is free, but boat operators build the Department of Conservation concession fee into your ticket price.
The island is 15 kilometers up the lake from the marina. This is too far for most visitors to kayak safely.

Could not fault our experience with Wanaka Taxi’s. The guide was great, stopped several times on the way out to tell us about the islands and it was a smooth trip. The island is amazing and we did the small hike up to the lake and then the lookout. Highly recommend
The boat ride to the island was very pleasant and James gave us some great info about the area. The island itself is stunningly beautiful, with great views and rare wildlife!
Fantastic trip, extremely knowledgeable guide Tim, made it awesome. Knew heaps of interesting facts about wildlife and nature making it a great experience. STUNNING scenery, definitely worth it if you have some spare time in Wanaka.
